Apprenticeship and Training
Puget Sound Washington Chapter offers a four year training program. Students
attend school one night per week. During their apprenticeship students receive
hands-on training that is extremely valuable in preparing to take the
Journeyman's License Exam.
Workshops and Seminars
The Chapter will soon be offering management workshops that cover topics such
as: project management, material ordering, change orders, safety and business
management, just to name a few.
Legislative
Our chapter monitors legislation that you as a small business owner and
electrical contractor wants to know about. We have a lobbyist in Olympia
through the IBA that works on our behalf. Our National officers push
legislation in Washington DC. We watch and promote legislation that has impact
on your business.
Safety
Safety is a priority with IEC. We provide you with a comprehensive Safety
Manual upon joining and your membership gives you access to a series called
Tool Box Talks and safety literature. Safety is taught in each of the
apprenticeship classes. Putting safety first can save you, the contractor,
money, time and more importantly, the health and welfare of your employees.
Membership Meetings
Attending meetings give you the opportunity to network with other
contractors and suppliers. A special speaker presents a timely topic at each
meeting. Prospective members are always welcome. For more information, contact
the chapter office.
Job Board
Membership gives you the advantage over other independent electrical
contractors with its new IEC Washington Journeyman's Job Board. This link puts
resumes of qualified electricians in you hands at a moments notice. With its
access to other cities in the state, you are able to find the right employee
to fill a position, wherever the job's location. And you are able to post a
listing if you want to advertise a position that is available. |
